The Scaleo Green Edition, just announced by Fujitsu Siemens, is being marketed as a "green PC". According to the company, the computer has been "purposely developed to reduce power consumption", largely through power management software presumably because I’m not too sure how energy efficient the Intel Pentium Dual Core processor they’re using is.
Fujitsu Siemens says the new PC meets the US Environmental Protection Agency's Energy Star 4.0 guidelines, and with 1GB of RAM, a 160GB hard disk, DVD writer, an 11-in-1 card reader, and Windows Vista Home Premium, it goes on sale in the UK next month for £349.
I remain a little skeptical about this, mainly because I’m not sure what’s particularly green about this ‘Green Edition’ PC. But just in case you think I’m not being entirely objective here, you can check out Dan Grabham’s piece on it over at Tech.co.uk
