Here are a couple of great new products from United Pepper, based in the UK. Lili and Oscar are funky peripherals made from cotton, sand, kapok (a material derived from tree fiber) and paperboard. The Octopus-like Lili is a 1.3-megapixel Webcam, complete with a microphone, while starfish-shaped Oscar is a four-port USB 2.0 hub.

United Pepper runs a fair-trade workshop in Vietnam, where Oscar and Lili's easily recyclable bodies are manufactured. Even their packaging comprises 100 percent recycled and recyclable polypropylene (PET).
“The mission at United Pepper is to produce technology products in a sustainable and ecological way,” said Xavier Petre, founder of United Pepper. “We want to move the ‘fairtrade’ concept away from traditional products and into a brand new area. Ecology is also important to us. We are rediscovering natural products that replace, and improve on, petroleum based materials.”
Lili and Oscar, who come in a range of four colours each, are priced at £30 and £20 respectively, and will be available in U.K. stores from the middle of this month.
