From Singapore Airlines using VIA silicon in the new version of their in-flight entertainment system, KrisWorld, to IBM featuring the energy-efficient 2.0 GHz VIA C7 processor in their just announced all-in-one, high-performance, eco-friendly point-of-sale system, VIA’s low power products are being picked up by more and more companies interested in lessening the impact of their activities and products on the environment.
And now VIA’s taking low power to new heights (depths?) with the release of a new CPU that has an idle power of just 0.1 watt, and an absolute maximum of just 1 watt! The new addition to VIA's Eden ultra low voltage (ULV) series runs at 500MHz and is aimed chiefly at embedded applications and ultra-mobile devices, with its low profile enabling the x86 platform to squeeze into a smaller, lighter chassis.
In line with its Green Computing Initiative, VIA continues to give system designers the tools to create smaller, quieter, and more energy efficient devices.
